Popes apology...

We have had some interesting discussions and calls from tribal members around Montana & Wyoming on the apology from the Pope to the First Nations people of Canada: Pope expresses 'sorrow' for abuse at residential school

It started out with the Canadian Government apologizing first. Many feel that this is long overdue for the American Indians from our Government. What are your thoughts?

  1. The apology from the US Government is long overdue. The 1879-2009 Journey of Forgiveness that Don Coyhis and the White Bison, Inc. is going to do on May 26, 2009 will be an attempt to see if President Obama will formally sign an apology to the Native People of the United States for the trauma that our ancestors suffered at the Boarding Schools and Mission Schools. Our generation are still affected by what happened to our Grandfathers, Grandmothers and relatives at the Schools. Look at the sucide rate, alcoholism, recidivism rate amongst the Native People in our communities. Yes it is long overdue!
